Imagine: The sun has set. After a long hike, you approach your adventure-mobile. As you draw near, underbody lights activate, casting a welcoming glow beneath to guide your way. When you open the door, the interior lights softly illuminate, and the water pump is powered on—ready for a water bottle refill or a quick wash up. Welcome home.
Dashboards
Dashboards are highly customizable. Here are some examples from the original Smarty Van:
MAIN: An overview of the most-used controls for your adventure-mobile. Completely customizable to suit your needs.
POWER: Monitor and control your electrical system with access to Victron Energy System data, inverter control, power visualization, alternator charge control, etc.
HVAC: Bring all of your HVAC controls and temperature monitoring into one dashboard including features like heated floors, engine pre-heat, and AC compressor speed.
WATER: View and manage tank levels, freeze protection and leak sensors as well as electronic valving and automation.
CAMERAS: Live security camera feeds with machine learning hardware for person detection and notifications.
BED: Control bed lifts or other bed-related mechanics and scenes.
WEATHER: Forcasts and NWS Alerts for the vehicle’s current GPS coordinates can be pulled from an online API.
NETWORK: Monitor and control Starlink and mobile router controls including cellular connections and GPS.
PRESENCE: Detection is available using bluetooth or wifi (or both) with smart phones, smart watches, key fobs or other network-connected devices.
CAB: Exterior lighting, vehicle stats, compressor, and relevant house controls can be made available in a dashboard on an in-cab tablet.
CUSTOM: One-off automations or integrations can be developed to address unique installs and features.
Automation
Bringing every device and service in your vehicle into one control system is just the beginning.
Now that everything is connected, the world of automation is our oyster. Close the grey valve if it’s been left open? Check. Turn off the inverter if it has been idle, You bet. Use electric heating when on shore power. Yup. All without lifting a finger.
You probably get the idea… but here a few more ideas to stir your imagination:
Turn on Starlink periodically if nobody is home and no other internet connection is available to ensure remote access to systems
Switch to auxiliary water tank when primary tank reaches 0%
Turn on interior and/or exterior lighting for a period of time when a person is detected on the cameras at night in a specified zone when nobody is home
Shut down inverter, water pump, etc when nobody is home
Turn on exterior lights when first person returns home after sunset
Set a Starlink sleep timer when going to bed
When alternator charging is allowed, activate Wakespeed alternator charge control when ignition turns on
Turn on third-party DRL lights when ignition is on, turn them off after a delay once ignition is off
Turn off interior house lights when vehicle begins to move
Turn on evening interior lights when ignition is turned off after dark
